Vancouver Craft Beer Week kicks off onMay 26, 2017 and brewers from around the province have started gathering to brew the festival’s annual Collaboration Beer: Hazy Pale Infused with Guava and Passionfruit. Summoning sunshine and sunsets, this balmy brew will be released on May 18, 2017, and for the first time, packaged in four-packs of 473 mL tall cansBrewed with El Dorado, Hull Melon and Idaho Seven hops, and later infused with passionfruit and guava. A “hazy ale” is a smooth, aromatic style of beer with a cloudy appearance.

“The collaboration beer encapsulates the mood of each year’s festival,” said Leah Heneghan, Events Director at Vancouver Craft Beer Week. “The 2017 brew is simply fun—from the exotic flavour to the colourful packaging, we want it to be the go-to summertime beer.”

Every year Vancouver Craft Beer Week honours the local brewing community by releasing a special Collaboration Beer. Select breweries work together to create a new recipe that celebrates the spirit of the festival. Now in its eighth year, VCBW celebrates the four breweries located on what has become known as Brewers Row in Port Moody, B.C.: Yellow Dog Brewing, Parkside Brewery,Moody Ales, and Twin Sails Brewing. Brewed at Yellow Dog, partial proceeds of the 2017 Vancouver Craft Beer Week Collaboration Beer will appropriately be donated to the BC SPCA.
In addition to the devoted efforts of B.C. brewers, this year’s beer was made possible by the generous donations of Canada MaltingBrew Culture, West Coast Canning, and Chrislan. The 2017 Vancouver Craft Beer Week Collaboration Beer will be available in draft and tall cans at participating venues and liquor stores before the May 26th festival kick-off.
