Berkeley Church, 315 Queen Street East Toronto
Drink Inc. has brought drinkers many “firsts” including: Ontario’s first ever Beer Festival (Toronto’s Festival of Beer, 1996), Toronto’s first ever outdoor Wine and Spirit Festival (Toronto Wine & Spirit Festival, 2009), Canada’s first ever one-off Craft Beer Fest (The Beer Experience, 2009) and now they are set to bring you Ontario’s first wet hop beer experience!
Fresh Hop Fest presented by Sobey’s Urban Fresh offers beer lovers an evening of live entertainment, delicious food, and most importantly, great “specialty” wet hop beers. Each beer station will feature samples of each brewer’s specialty beer made from this year’s local fresh hop farm harvests. We are deepening the connection between our local hop farmers and our local breweries in order to yet again, bring you something new!
After picking fresh hops, brewers fire their kettles to seize the hop in its most natural state. The journey from field to wort must be hasty, or the hops lose their fertile magic; Mother Nature waits for no one. Wet hop beers are earthy and fresh, and brewed to flaunt their subtle but sensational character.
It’s true! Brewers are currently hitting the farms and harvesting their own hops to make Fresh Hopped Beer just for the event, in some cases for the first time!
Attendees will sample unique and one off beers brewed exclusively for Fresh Hop Fest.
These brewers include: Muskoka Brewery, Amsterdam Brewery, GoodLot Farmstead Brewing Co., Sawdust City Brewing Co., High Park Brewery, Redline Brewhouse, Big Rock Brewery, Caledon Hills Brewing Co.. Black Oak Brewing Company, Church-Key Brewing, Hometown Brewing Co., Niagara Oast House Brewers, Northwinds Brewery Ltd, Radical Road Brewing, Rorschach Brewing Co., The Collingwood Brewery, The Second Wedge Brewery and Wellington Brewery. These breweries will be partnering with several local hop farms including: Highland Hop Farm, Erin Ridge Farms, Big Head Hops, Skookum Hops, Beaver Valley Hops, H+H Farms, Heritage Hills, Upper Twenty Creek Farms, Tiny Hops, Winterbrook Farm and Clear Valley Hops.
Guests will also enjoy charcuterie style samplings presented by Sobeys Urban Fresh that have been hand selected to pair perfectly with the beer selection. A portion of all ticket sales from this event goes directly to the Canadian Music Therapy Trust Fund.
